Consumed with what's to transpire
| I was late to the office today because I spent too long trying to artfully photograph my fingernails. No matter how I try I just don’t have graceful artists hands (or painting skills). I’ve been hankering after colourful matte nails for weeks now and was ready to drop my dollars on a bottle of green OPI when I discovered a positive rainbow of matte silliness in cheap cosmetics and gumboot store Groove. With around four primary colours for the same price as one bottle of OPI I was able to let my childish palette rule. Wearing In other news, I resigned my job on Friday. Rapture. I’ve still got a few weeks of notice to work out but I can’t tell you how excited I am about my plans for next year. NB: Today’s title post lyrics are a tribute to the many times I’ve had to hear this song played as a ringtone in my open plan office. Full volume pop songs are not appropriate ring tones if you like to leave your phone unattended on your desk all day long! |

It's not easy being green, in a world you have to tread on other people just to find a place to put your wares on show
Beautiful 60s textured silk dress/vest in an alarmingly vivid shade of green. Manufactured in the stylish city of Adelaide by ‘Vogue Overseas Fashions’. I love Adelaide – no really I do. Food and wine and the best op-shops and the opportunity to wear scarves for more than 1 month in the year. In which we discuss tights
Trawling back through old posts I’ve discovered that I first declared my love of these Chanel tights in December last year. I’ve been on the lookout for a chain store pair for so long now that I’d almost forgotten all about them when I read a post by Pony of Pony and Pink. She linked to a pair of Pamela Mann tights on Polyvore, which linked to a pair for sale on www.mytights.com Tragically, although the links were still active they weren’t for sale anymore. I could have cried. It transpired however, after an emailed to the website, that the lovely ladies behind it had some extra stock ‘out the back’ and promptly popped them back up on the site for me. It looks like they are still up there now too. What are you waiting for? Thanks to Sasha and Caroline from Mytights for going above and beyond with the customer service and making the internet such a nice place to shop sometimes. (And they have awesome tights.) Oh, I do love them. I feel like a mint slice biscuit… or a neenish tart. Disclaimer: Comparison may only make sense in the southern hemisphere or to expats. I also got them in nude/black. Because I’m indecisive that way. Dress: Vintage – New York | Jacket: Topshop | tights: mytights.com | shoes: Target And just because I don’t think we’ve looked at enough tights today, here is a picture of some that I thrifted recently. They’re bound to be very uncomfortable, but I can’t go past that packaging. |

We’re too busy singing to put anybody down
I feel like a Sim with Plantism when I wear these tights. Has anyone played Scribblenauts? How awesome is that game? 70s? house dress: thrifted Mesh tennis top: Built by Wendy (online sale) Green tights: Uniqlo Ankle boots: thrifted On another note – I saw 500 Days of Summer a few days ago. Of course, Zooey was beautiful and charming, and rather gloriously rumpled in every scene. Actually I like to think the whole film was a kind of stand for fidgety, impatient women everywhere who cannot be arsed ironing very often. |

There’s matches in the bathroom just below the stairs
So… things have been a little crazy lately. Times like these leave no time for frivolity. I like this dress because it reminds me of my mum. I have in mind that she used to own a similar one in the early eighties when I was a unsteady toddler. I think hers was purple though. 80s dress: Vintage fair Belt: Valley Girl Socks: Target Mary Jane pumps: Target |

Sandra Dee
Is what J said I looked like when I left the house for work in this. Actually, what he said was “You look like Olivia Newton John in Grease before she put the slutty pants on at the end” but I have paraphrased. I did attempt to business it up for the office a little bit by wearing a blazer.
